YWCA Domestic Violence Awareness Television

Created for YWCA of Lewiston and Clarkston

In domestic violence situations, women are often reluctant to report abuse for fear of retaliation. Or, they rationalize the abuse because of low self-esteem, often thinking they caused the abuse or deserve it. These PSAs focus on the statistics that show they aren’t alone and that there is help available.

The YWCA of Lewiston, ID and Clarkston, WA provides domestic violence awareness help and services to Clearwater, Idaho and Nez Perce counties in Idaho and Asotin and Garfield counties in Washington.

Even Prince Charming Can Breathe Fire
This 30-second spot speaks of the 3 million people who are victims of domestic abuse each year. Girls grow up with the belief they will meet, and marry, their Prince Charming. Sometimes, Prince Charming turns out to be not so, and is more like a fire-breathing dragon, burning with words of emotional abuse or silent treatment. Watch Video

A Palace Can Become A Prison
This 30-second spot focuses on the horrifying statistics of domestic violence victims. Sometimes, what seems like the perfect life, can turn into a prison when living with someone who is physically and emotionally abusive. Watch Video
